What is missing in most curricula is “How to think”. Students solve math problem without much thinking and may be with the help of hints and formulas. When they enter finally into a real world they suddenly realize that not all problems can be solved with formulas.

Over a period of last 2 decades we had realized that many students fail, not due to lack of intelligence, because they fail to visualize and think. This habit of visualization and thinking needs to be inculcated at an early age. Therefore to help students think, we apply seminar-style teaching. This pedagogy makes learning a give and take process where students are the center of the class. We encourage students to ask questions and answer their peers' inquiries. We also encourage them to articulate their unpolished original ideas, to try to spot errors in their approaches by either experimenting with smaller cases or working backwards from results, and to search for correct paths by analyzing their failed attempts. Once they have a correct solution, we emphasize the importance of asking questions such as, What are the key ideas in the problem? How can I apply these ideas to other situations? Thinking and analyzing is given more importance than just solving bookish problems.
