About Cherrapunjee Eco-Tourism Tour Guides Centre in Tyrna Village Lower Cherra Punjee, Cherrapunji

Cherrapunjee Eco-Tourism Tour Centre is the sub-product of Tyrna Youth Welfare & Development Society which come to emergerge on 16/07/2015 at the facebook page.The Society is one of the most active NGO of Tyrna village and its surrounding area which covers around 30 villages of Sohra Sub-Division in East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya. Since the last 11 years of it’s existence, the Society has been working to its utmost potential as far rending help and assistance to the people in various fields and especially with promoting of Eco-Tourism along with Cherrapunjee Holiday Resort.
Area of Operation: The Area of Operation/ Jurisdiction of the Society cover the whole state of Meghalaya. But at present it covers the entire of Cherrapunjee and around 30 other villages under the Sohra Sub-Division in East Khasi Hills District.
Date of Establishment: 09th, November 2003.
Registration: The Society is registered under the Government of Meghalaya vide
Registration No.: E/16/19/2003/89 of 2008 on the twenty five day of April 2008.
AIMS AND OJECTIVES
To preserve and promoteTourism Cultural activities such as Traditional Music, Dance, Dress, Art & Crafts work etc
•To maintain unity, understanding, cooperation, tolerance, peace and harmony among the Communities in particular and public in general.
Activities: Story success
State & District Youth Club Award 2014-2015: The Association/Society has got the District best Youth Club Award and the Outstanding State Youth Club Award during this year 2014-2015 from the Ministry of Youth Affairs &Sports govt of India Through NYKs Meghalaya Zone on 24th,February,2015.
Tourism: The Society has taken actively in Tourism. Almost every years organizing and celebrates World Tourism ‘day. The Society in our locality trying to Develop Village Tourism in collaboration with Cherra Punjee Holiday Resort Laitkynsew and Tourism Dept govt of Meghalaya. The Society during 2012 work together with BBC News for the Documents Film of Wettest Place in the World (Cherra Punjee). Almost every days the members of the Society provided Guide of Tourists in all around of Cherra Punjee.
Vocational Training Centre: The Society has running and setting up a Vocational Training Centre in the Year 2013 on weaving, Tailoring & Knitting mainly with the financial help from Nehru Yuva Kendra, Shillong, and with our own resources. And in the year 2014 with the grant-in-aid from Deputy Commissioner the Society extended training course on Tailoring & Knitting which still continue till today. Around 70 trainees have already trained in these courses.
Social Activities: The Society through Social relief fund has contributed to the poor and the needy of the public of this area during natural calamities such as distribution of Foods, clothes, rice, Medicines, G-I-Sheets, Christmas and new year gift to children and poor people The Society during last few years has setting up and address the importants issues to the Local Community (Dorbar Shnong) for the needs of People.
