Distance to city from airport is 8 km.In June 2017 new Civil Terminal building has now been inaugurated by Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath and named airport as Mahayogi Gorakhnath Airport. This is a phase one and next phase will be expanded in coming months along with one conveyor belt. In addition, SpiceJet introduced daily flights from Gorakhpur to Delhi and Kolkata in October 2016. As per statement provided by Civil avaiation minister and CM, other operators will also introduce their flights to Gorakhpur from Mumbai and other destinations.
