Usually it is done for religious devotion, as a hobby, as a source of pleasure, comfort or ritual as part of music education or as a profession.Dhrupad, being one of the oldest living form of music, is really a source of pleasure to the students of Dhrupad Gurukul- a legacy carrying the essence of Dagar Gharana initiated predominantly by Ustad Nasir Aminuddin and Ustad Nasir Moinuddin Dagar.
