About Gyandeep in N 4 Green Park extension, New Delhi

10 years ago when Sumita Kakkar,a housewife in Green Park Extension New Delhi,opened the doors of her house to educate her maid's kids,little did she know that she would transform the lives of many more kids in her neighbourhood and of those, who would volunteer to help.

The impact she was making on her maid's kids through story telling and craft was noticed by other kids and parents in the neighbourhood. Soon, with more kids and volunteers,'Gyandeep-Centre For Learning And Activities For Underprivileged Children' was born.There are children between the age group of 6 to 15 years and academic levels from Kinder Garten to Class 5.Some of the girls have never been to school.

Gyandeep works on a unique model.We help the parents to put their children in Government or Private schools where there is free quota for economically weaker section of society.We provide a place,after school,to teach life skills.Develop language skills through story telling.Basic Mathematics,General Knowledge,Health & Hygiene through discussions and quiz.

We celebrate all festivals in our own style, which help them understand the world around them better.
The remarkable change in the lives of these kids and their families is a testimony of our efforts.

Volunteers at present are Kiren Babal,Priya,Payal Jain,Kalyani,Diwita,Gurkirrat,Varsha, Preeta, Manjot & Arjun.
