About City Square at Swaraj Maidan in PWD Grounds, M.G Road, Vijayawada

Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) is focused on transforming Vijayawada into a green and one of the best ranked city with a host of facilities and amenities for its citizens. Swaraj Maidan (PWD Grounds) in the heart of the city is an empty land currently used for holding occasional events. GoAP, through Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, intends to develop this 20 acre land as a large and iconic public utility project called “City Square” on similar lines of Trafalgar Square London or Central Park in New York. City Square as the ‘Icon of Vijayawada’ is conceptualised to improve the liveability of the city by bringing in more greenery, open lung spaces and a place for the public leisure and entertainment. It is aimed at enhancing the brand value of Vijayawada and bring socio-economic benefits its people.
