ACCOMODATION

The comfortable appealing cottages are a perfect blend with nature, built in the old style of the local houses with sloping tiled roofs, red oxide floors and rooms with panoramic views.

Whispering Wilderness Cottage offers five cosy rooms as accommodation. The spacious well appointed bedrooms with clean attached bathrooms that are large and well ventilated with running hot & cold water. The Cottage provides all modern creature comforts but yet retain its rustic charm.

The Bedrooms open onto a huge veranda with spectacular views of receding mountains and tropical jungles, perfect to lounge around on easy chair or just stroll along the innumerable natural trails and mud pathways, carpeted with wild flowers, subtly intoxicating you with its aroma of the eucalyptus and the pine grooves.

FOOD

Whispering Wilderness encourages use of local produce as much as possible, this adds to the variety. The food is primarily of Indian subcontinent style, characterized by the extensive use of fresh spices, herbs, vegetables, poultry, fish and a wide assortment of cooking techniques.

As a consequence, we serve a wide variety of North & South Indian dishes to cater to varied demographic palates.

We at Whispering Wilderness are dedicated to providing quality Indian food. The recipes included are time tested with correct combination of herbs and spices. To serve the most authentic food, we blend the unique flavor of spices at our kitchen premises. We make our own spices and everything is cooked fresh from scratch in our kitchen.

The food is consists of both vegetarian & non-vegetarian cuisines and “DIY – BBQ” (DO IT YOURSELF BARBEQUES)

GETTING THERE

If you are coming from Bangalore / Mysore, you will need to drive past Bandipur & Madumalai Reserve forest range till Thepakadu junction – from where you have the option of taking mild gradient road through the scenic tea plantations of Gudalur region and drive past Pykara Dam to turn left towards Sholur OR you can choose the more rugged route via Masanagudi to ascend to Ooty negotiating 36 hairpin bends till Thalakunda junction (before Ooty) and turn right onto the Ooty – Gudalur Road and take another right to Sholur just after the famous Film Shooting Spot.

For a really Off Roading experience and strictly for the adventure seekers and experienced drivers, one can take a right turn at the 10th Hairpin bend of the Masinagudi Ooty road soon after Kalhatty falls to reach the property (just 3.5 Km from the 10th Hairpin bend).

If you are coming from Coimbatore / Salem / Kerala / Coonoor, you will need to touch Ooty and proceed towards Bangalore via Finger Post, Ooty Gymkhana Golf Club, HPF and Thalakunda junctions and take a left turn towards Gudalur, turn right towards Sholur just after the Film Shooting Spot.

A note of caution – Guest are strictly advised to reach the property before sunset as the weather in the Nilgiris can become foggy without warning, making it difficult to drive on unfamiliar roads without fog lights.
